LAKE ELSINORE: New initiative filed on huge project
A proponent of Alberhill Villages is pursuing a citywide vote over the subdivision plan.
Press Enterprise:
The lead proponent of a huge mixed-use project in Lake Elsinore is taking another stab at pursuing an election on the proposal.
Dana Coon filed a notice Friday, June 10, that he wants to circulate a signature-gathering petition to get the plan for Alberhill Villages on a ballot. The plan calls for more than 8,200 homes and 4 million square feet of retail, office and institutional space to be built on 1,400 acres in northern Lake Elsinore.

A previous notice filed in March is on hold after the city attorney sued to stop it based on her contention it supports an unconstitutional initiative. The lawsuit awaits judicial consideration.
Coon also filed a revised initiative proposal Friday attempting to resolve the city attorney’s objections.
A City Council hearing on on the project is scheduled Tuesday, but Castle & Cooke representatives are seeking to have the item postponed or scrapped. They object to conditions placed on the plan by city staff.
