LEUSD Calling for Nominations in Annual 'Citizen Awards Program'
Do YOU know any exemplary students, parent-volunteers, and community business partners?

The second annual LEUSD Citizen Awards Program is seeking nominations for exemplary students, parent-volunteers, and community business partners! We welcome nominations January 10 through January 31, 2017.
Background:
Promoting student, parent and community engagement is a goal under the district’s Strategic Plan and Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Citizen Awards Program reflects our commitment to public involvement and recognizing the role of non-certificated individuals in school success. These individuals are selected following an open call for nominations.
Five awards are given in three nomination categories:
- Students—three student role models representing Elementary, Middle, and High School grade levels;
- Parent/Volunteer—one outstanding parent, guardian or individual who has provided voluntary service at one or more schools, preschools or afterschool programs; or, a standout volunteer on behalf of the district’s Measure V bond election effort;
- Community Partner—one community-based organization, business, or agency whose partnership with the district has strongly supported students, teachers, or both.
Criteria: Online nominations include: A) stating the main reason for a given nomination, B) defining how the nominee nurtures, inspires and engages other people, or has made a difference through their commitment and service to the district.
Submittal Rules: LEUSD welcomes online nominations from the public, district employees, and the community. One nominee per category, or in the case of student nominees, submit a separate student nomination for each grade level (i.e., Elementary, Middle, and High School).
Judging: Nominations are evaluated by the Appreciation Reception Committee. Honorees will be announced in February.
Notification and Recognition Event Invitations: Honorees will be notified in writing and invited to attend the LEUSD Appreciation Reception event in May (see below).
Appreciation and Awards Reception: This year’s event will be held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at 3:00 p.m., at Pins ‘n Pockets, in Lake Elsinore. Following a brief social with refreshments, the awards ceremony will honor Citizen Awardees, Teacher of the Year recipients, Employee of the Year recipients, and district retirees.
