Local Mountains to Get Several Inches of Snow This Week
A cold storm is on its way to the region.

A very strong cold storm from southwestern Canada was headed today for the mountains of Riverside County, meteorologists said.
The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for mountain areas from Tuesday afternoon to Wednesday afternoon, saying the snow level would drop to around 3,000 feet by Tuesday evening.
It will then rapidly lower to near 2,000 feet by Wednesday morning, the agency said.

Around 4 to 8 inches of snow accumulation was expected in the mountains.
Sustained northwest winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour and gusts in excess of 45 mph were also expected.

The Weather Service said residents and travelers in the mountain areas could face “major travel problems” due to snow and ice on the roadways.
