LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Any decisions on the massive Baker Street Warehouse Project proposed for Lake Elsinore are likely continued to Dec. 8.

While the proposed development was slated for discussion this week by the Lake Elsinore City Council, the council's Oct. 13 meeting agenda shows the project applicant has requested a continuance due to "the number of unanticipated public comments received and the additional time needed to prepare responses."

The proposed project has largely been met with opposition from local residents. Among the many concerns are increased traffic and green house gas emissions, degradation of air quality, aesthetics of the large structures, zoning change made to accommodate the project, and noise.

The project applicant has maintained the development would provide local, well-paying jobs to residents who may otherwise travel out of the region for employment.

As a result of the applicant's request to move discussion, city staff is recommending that during Tuesday's meeting, City Council open the public hearing, take public comments, if any, and continue the item to Dec. 8. No discussion is planned.

On Sept. 1, the Lake Elsinore Planning Commission reviewed the proposed project and voted 5-0 to recommend the City Council approve it.
