Menifee Police Search For Driver Who Fatally Struck 15-Year-Old Boy Riding Electric Motor Bike

On Saturday, authorities seized the vehicle believed to have been involved in the deadly collision.

MENIFEE, CA — The vehicle suspected of striking and killing a 15-year-old boy riding an electric motor bike before fleeing the scene was located but authorities are still searching for the driver, police announced on Tuesday.

On Saturday, investigators with the Menifee Police Department took possession of the suspected hit-and-run vehicle described as a 2024 white Toyota Sienna minivan, according to the Menifee Police Department.

"As the investigation continues, our investigators are pursuing all leads and exhausting all available resources to bring this case to a close," Chase Coburn, a spokesperson for Menifee Police Department said in a news release.

The collision happened just after 8 p.m. on Aug. 12 near Briggs and Garbani roads, according to the Menifee Police Department.

Police said that the victim was riding his eMoto, an off-road electrically powered motorcross-style bike, in the southbound lanes of Briggs when he was struck. Witnesses reported seeing a white vehicle traveling south on Briggs Road while dragging a bicycle underneath its front end.

Police said the suspected vehicle kept traveling southbound after the bike became dislodged.

The hit-and-run collision remains under investigation.
