Menifee School Officials Alert Parents After Student Approached By Stranger
A school employee who was driving by at the time believed the interaction was suspicious and stopped to help the student, officials said.
MENIFEE, CA — School officials shared an alert with parents after a student was approached by a stranger Wednesday afternoon near Ridgemoor Elementary School in Menifee.
The student was walking home from school near Peterson Park when a white car approached and a man exited the vehicle, and began walking toward the student. A school employee who was driving by at the time believed the interaction was suspicious and stopped to help the student.
School officials said Menifee Police Department was immediately contacted, and has launched an active investigation. Police have also ramped up patrols around the school campus during student arrivals in the morning and afternoon dismissal.

It was unclear if the person police made contact with after the incident on Wednesday was arrested or cited.
"We ask that you use this incident as an opportunity to review personal safety habits with your children," the district said.

Anyone with information related to the ongoing investigation was asked to contact the school administration or the Menifee Police Department.
