Motorcyclist Dies in Ortega Highway Crash

The accident occurred Sunday morning just east of the lower fire station between San Juan Capistrano and Lake Elsinore.

A 49-year-old man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash with a sedan hauling a small trailer on the Ortega Highway Sunday, closing Route 74 between San Juan Capistrano and Lake Elsinore.

The motorcyclist was a resident of the city of Orange, said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz.

The crash was in Orange County, just east of the western fire station, and it was at about 8:44 a.m., according to the CHP.

The vehicle involved in the crash was described as a light blue Chevrolet Cruze with a small trailer attached to it, according to the CHP. The driver of that vehicle was not injured, although its airbags deployed.
