Nearly $80 Million in Lottery-Related Funds Headed to RivCo Schools
Riverside County's share of the $1.34 billion from the Lottery Education Fund is approximately $78.1 million.
Close to $80 million in funds gleaned from unclaimed prizes and other income generated by the California Lottery were earmarked for Riverside County schools in the 2013-14 fiscal year, it was announced this week.
According to the California State Controller’s Office, of the $1.34 billion disbursed from the Lottery Education Fund, roughly $78.1 million went to Riverside County.
Funds were sent quarterly to the county Office of the Treasurer-Tax Collector, which in turn made distributions to school districts, according to state officials.

The controller’s list of recipients indicated that the largest disbursal from the Lottery Education Fund went to Los Angeles County, which collected $332.66 million in 2013-14, while the smallest amount went to Alpine County, which received $26,297.
