WILDOMAR, CA — The new $400 million seven-story tower at Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomar has officially opened.

In a news release from the hospital's parent company — Southwest Healthcare — it was announced that the first patients were received on Monday.

The new 217,444-square-foot advanced acute care tower, located at 36485 Inland Valley Drive, increases the hospital’s capacity from 120 licensed acute care beds to 202.

The expansion was designed to support the region’s growing healthcare needs. Inland Valley is the only hospital in Southwest Riverside County to offer Level II trauma services, an advanced certified primary stroke center, and a total joint center with advanced certification. It is also a nationally recognized center for weight-loss surgery.

Before the expansion, the hospital reported that it performs more than 4,000 surgeries a year and averages 4,000 Emergency Department visits per month.

“This is an important and exciting moment for our organization and the communities we serve,” said Jared Giles, CEO of Southwest Healthcare Inland Valley Hospital & Rancho
Springs Hospital. “We are pleased to begin providing patient care in the new Inland Valley Tower following approval from the California Department of Public Health. This achievement reflects the extraordinary dedication of our teams, who worked tirelessly to address every detail and ensure a successful transition.”

The hospital expansion has taken nearly five years to complete. A construction groundbreaking ceremony was held on Oct. 7, 2021. The celebration also included a groundbreaking for the expansion of nearby Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta.

The large financial investment in the Wildomar and Murrieta facilities was the most substantial ever committed by Pennsylvania-based Universal Health Services, which operates Southwest Healthcare facilities across the region.

UHS opened Inland Valley Hospital in January 1987.
