Operation Prom Girl 2017: Free Prom Dress Event!

We have an amazing annual program we would like to spread the news about- We primarily serve the Inland Valley Empire, although no girl shall ever be turned away.

This prom dress outreach was founded less than a month after the founder, Dawn Schultz moved here to Wildomar from Los Angeles county and the numbers of the girls we serve at our annual event have continually risen, with thanks to God and our amazing communities.

The first year ,after using social media as a platform to share this vision to collect formal dresses and to help send a girl to prom who could not afford it is now in its 4 th year. The first year in just over a month, 100 dresses were collected throughout the community and 16 were served. Last year, we served over 100 high school girls in the area, as well as others throughout the year, including the newly implemented military wives formal dress giveaway so that to attend their annual balls, and working with Operation Makeover; focus was on ptsd survivors.

The main focus of Operation Prom Girl the high school program; our focus is "Beauty Behind the Mask", a term we use to help girls identify and love who they really are at a core- level, and to love themselves from the inside out and thrive in their life's journeys . We allow those with hardships in special circumstances an opportunity to attend this annual program, complete with empowering speakers, workshops, and an opportunity to sign up for hair and make up services for the actual day of their prom. The girls also receive lunch, a dessert bar, educational inspiration, resources and referrals, and of course they receive a free prom dress of their choice and also often find beautiful shoes and accessories to match the gown.

The girls get to keep their items, as we also encourage a pay-it-forward mindset.

This year's theme will be "Wonderland", and a new feature of the day program will be an all- shapes and sizes fashion show for the girls to enjoy.

This year's event will take place on April 8 at The Bridge Church in Murrieta. High school girls who may qualify with some type of hardship can submit the online "Get a Dress" form at www.opromgirl.wordpress.com to receive a ticket to attend Operation Prom Girl 2017 SoCal.

Operation Prom Girl So Cal is powered with volunteer and community efforts! We cannot do it alone! We are currently in most need of new makeup, nail polish, brushes, journals, and other girlie items to fill 100 goody bags that each guest will receive.

We will also have drawings for the girls throughout the day and are looking for donations of raffle prizes appropriate for our attendees. We are requesting people who have bakeries or a niche for desserts for our dessert bar, flowers for decor, and Lastly, we are looking for jewelry, new or gently worn fancy shoes, and collect stylish, new or gently used formal gowns year- round.
