Three young men were arrested and two remain at large after police broke up a ring that allegedly had robbed several retail stores in Palm Desert, La Quinta and Cathedral City, deputies said.

The arrests took place following a robbery that was reported at 4:16 p.m. Friday, at a store in the 72000 block of Highway 111 in Palm Desert, according to the Riverside sheriff’s department.

Eisenhower Medical Center hosted the 22nd annual Evening Under the Stars gala, a fundraiser benefiting the AIDS Assistance Program.

The gala at O’Donnell Golf Club featured cocktails, live and silent auctions, dinner, entertainment and dancing.

No cause has been determined for the fire that partially collapsed a 10,000-square-foot vacant grocery store that burned for more than three hours in Indio, Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department officials said.

The fire was reported at 9:11 a.m. Thursday in the 45800 block of Rubidoux Street, according to fire officials.
