Payless Closing 49 California Stores: List
Find out which California locations are on the chopping block.
Less than two weeks after news broke that Payless ShoeSource would file for bankruptcy, the retailer has released a list of 400 stores that will close immediately in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, including dozens in California. The chain, founded in 1956, currently operates 4,400 stores in 30 countries, including 3,600 in North America. In January, Reuters reported Payless was in debt to the tune of $655 million.
The company will close the following California locations:

- 1077 W Highland Ave in San Bernardino
- 2048 Story Rd in San Jose
- 1201 Columbus St in Bakersfield
- 600 Redwood St in Vallejo
- 455 W Willow St in Long Beach
- Ceres Plaza Shopping Center in Modesto
- Brea Union Plaza in Brea
- Page Plaza in Hemet
- Garden Grove Pavilion in Garden Grove
- Wal Mart Center in Huntington Beach
- Sherwood Shopping Plaza in Bell Gardens
- Bristol Place in Santa Ana
- Manchester Center in Fresno
- Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance

- Rosemead Plaza in Rosemead
