Public Services Scheduled For Fallen Soldier

, of Lake Elsinore will be laid to rest today with full military honors during a public service at Riverside National Cemetery.

According to Greg Walker of Walker Mortuary, the 2 p.m. service will be preceded by a 12 p.m. public service at East Hills Community Church in Riverside. Pastors Dean Murphy and Fred Rodriguez will officiate during the church service, Walker said.

“Everyone is welcome,” Walker said. “It’s going to be an honor for a local hero.”

Walker explained that the church service is expected to last until approximately 1:30 p.m., at which time the funeral procession will head to the cemetery.

Today’s services will offer another opportunity for local residents to pay their respects. Monday saw the arrival of Sgt. Korte’s remains at Ontario Airport. He was escorted to a Lake Elsinore funeral home by police, fire, and Patriot Guard Riders.

The sergeant was He was assigned to the 720th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade out of Fort Hood, according to a Department of Defense statement.

Sgt. Korte leaves behind a wife and two small children.
