LAKE ELSINORE, CA – One lucky Patch reader caught a rare glimpse of a bald eagle at Lake Elsinore and snapped and shared this photo.
Bald Eagle No. 61, as identified by its blue tag, was hatched in 2016 on Santa Cruz Island, off the Southern California coast, as part of the Institute for Wildlife Studies' bald eagle restoration project on Channel Islands.
The "immature" bird was last reportedly seen in 2016, according to Dr. Peter B. Sharpe of the IWS.
