LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Drivers who commute between Orange and Riverside counties on the 241 Toll Road are experiencing closures through Feb. 15.

The Toll Roads of Orange County announced Wednesday that the 241 Toll Road traveling north will experience closures while crews work to install safety-enhancing features on the toll road. The closures last from Feb. 10 to Feb. 15.

While the closures are in place, Toll Road crews plan to work on installing 800 new vertical channelizer posts on the toll road from the Windy Ridge Mainline Toll Point to California state Route 91. The vertical channelizer posts are planned to be installed along the one-mile stretch of road leading to the 91 freeway.

Drivers trying to access the westbound 91 freeway during construction will exit at Green River Road and turn left to access the freeway, the Toll Roads of Orange County said.

The vertical channelizer posts are designed to enforce good driving habits by discouraging "queue-jumping" near the 91 freeway, a spokesperson with the Toll Roads of Orange County said.

“Anyone who has ever traveled from the 241 Toll Road to the 91 in the late afternoon has firsthand knowledge of the traffic operation challenges in that area,” said Transportation Corridor Agencies CEO Samuel Johnson. “Enhancing safety and improving mobility are always a priority and this project’s outcome of enforcing better driver behavior supports them.”

Additionally, Toll Road crews will be installing new roadway signage and lane striping.
