RivCo Man Arrested In Connection With Vandalizing Memorial Site

Deputies say the 28-year-old had no connection to the descendant.

LAKE MATHEWS, CA — A 28-year-old man was arrested on Thursday after he was accused of vandalizing a memorial site honoring a person who had passed away.

Izaak Carlos Lucero, of Jurupa, is suspected of vandalizing the memorial on July 24 at 11:42 a.m., which is located in the area of Cajalco Road and La Sierra Avenue in the unincorporated area of Corona known as Lake Matahews, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

"During the investigation, deputies determined Lucero had no connection to the descendant but drove to the site and intentionally vandalized the memorial," deputies said.

The family of the descendant said the damage was an estimated $2,200.

A special enforcement team took over the investigation and on Thursday at 9 a.m., they located and arrested Lucero in the 3600 block of Jennie Street in Jurupa.

Lucero was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of felony vandalism.

No other details were immediately available. Anyone with information was urged to call Deputy Denton at the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station at 951–272–5600.
