RivCo Woman's Body Found In Mexico, Husband Arrested

Sheriff's officials say the woman's husband is suspected of kidnapping her from Riverside County and killing her.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA — A man accused off killing his wife after her body turned up in Mexico last month remained behind bars on Monday, records showed. Riverside County sheriff's officials say Juan Carlos Lopez Alvarado is suspected of kidnapping and killing the woman.

Back on Feb. 5, sheriff's investigators assigned to the Jurupa Valley station were told that a woman's body, later identified as Rosa Isella Beltran Lopez, was found in Pueblo Nuevo, Mexico, according to sheriff's Sgt. Steve Brosche. That's over a thousand miles away, in a municipality in the northwestern Mexican state of Durango

"Investigators worked with Calexico Police and learned the victim may have been kidnapped from the Jurupa Valley area prior to being killed," he said in a news release.

On Feb. 18, sheriff's officials arrested Lopez Alvarado, 44, on suspicion of murder.

Additional details related to the case were not disclosed, but police said no one else is wanted in connection to Beltran Lopez's death.

"There are no outstanding suspects, and no threat to public safety," Brosche said.

Lopez Alvarado is jailed without bail.
