LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Smoke was visible Wednesday in the mountains behind Lake Elsinore and Temescal Canyon, as well as in the Descanso Ranger District in San Diego County due to a prescribed burn, officials say.

"Fuel crews on the Trabuco Ranger District are conducting a prescribed burn today at the Temescal Fire Station in Corona," officials from the U.S. Forest Service, Cleveland National Forest unit said. "Smoke may be visible from Interstate 15 and surrounding communities."

The U.S. Forest Service has asked residents not to report the smoke sighting from this incident.

Other prescribed burns were also underway in the Descanso area, to the south and east, in San Diego County.

"Fuel crews on the Descanso Ranger District are conducting a 92-acre broadcast prescribed burn today in Mount Laguna off Sunrise Hwy. Smoke may be visible from Sunrise Hwy, the I-8, and surrounding communities."

There is no need to report smoke sighted from either incident, according to the forest service.

Prescribed burns occur only when air quality permits.

'If driving in the area, slow down and turn on your headlights when you encounter smoke on the road," they said.
