Sheridan Accepts Offer to Debate Calvert

"It will be my pleasure to tell the voters of my district where I stand on the issues," said Tim Sheridan.

Tim Sheridan, the Democratic candidate for Congress in California’s 42nd District, today accepted the official invitation from the Lake Elsinore Citizen’s Committee to debate 20-year incumbent Congressman Ken Calvert on Friday, October 10th.

“It will be my pleasure to tell the voters of my district where I stand on the issues and explain why I would be a more accessible and visible public servant,” said Sheridan. “Mr. Calvert, in the 20 years he has been in Congress, has failed to solve the problems that face this area. We can do more to bring good paying jobs to area, protect Social Security and Medicare, and make higher education more affordable. Congress is broken and Mr. Calvert has been unable to demonstrate that he can work across the aisle with his fellow representatives to get things done - it is time for a change.”

The debate for state and national candidates will be held from 6:30pm to 9:30pm at the Lake Elsinore Woman’s Club at 710 W. Graham Ave in Lake Elsinore. The Lake Elsinore Citizen’s Committee has assured the community that it will be moderated in a non-partisan way. Members of the public who wish to submit questions to candidates in advance may do so at http://www.lecc.us/questions since attendees will not be able to ask questions during the debate. Committee members will have the first opportunity to secure the free tickets. Afterwards, the general public will be able to get tickets through the www.LECC.us website.
