Small Earthquake Swarm Jolts Corona Area

CORONA, CA — A small earthquake swarm hit Corona Tuesday, though there were no immediate reports of damage.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the temblors started hitting at 10:17 a.m. with a magnitude 1.9 quake.

Five more quakes followed with the most recent reported at 2:30 p.m.

The largest temblor in the series struck at 2:07 p.m. and registered at magnitude 2.5. Its epicenter was about 5 miles southwest of the city, according to the USGS.

Corona is situated between two active fault zones — the Whittier-Elsinore Fault Zone and the San Jacinto Fault Zone.
