Smoke Fills Upper Stories Of Menifee Business

MENIFEE, CA — A Menifee commercial building evacuated Wednesday after smoke from a possible electrical burnout flooded the upper floor. Firefighters arrived at the scene and attempted to identify the source.

The fire alarm activated at about 11 a.m. within the Hope Medical Arts Plaza in the 29800 block of Haun Road, just west of Interstate 215, according to the Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews and a truck company arrived at the scene to find workers from the multi-story building in the middle of evacuating amid a ringing alarm.

Firefighters initiated a search of the structure and detected smoke likely connected to an electrical malfunction on the third floor, according to officials at the scene.

No signs of fire were immediately found.

Firefighters continued their search, while workers and customers remained confined to the parking area.
