LAKE ELSINORE, CA — The Storm Halloween Festival & Marketplace, a three-day event with carnival rides and live entertainment planned late October at Lake Elsinore's Storm baseball stadium, was canceled due to complications from the COVID-19 pandemic and "other unforeseen events," according to organizers.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of the Storm Halloween Festival & Marketplace, due to take place Oct. 29-31, 2021," operators said Tuesday. "We know this will come as an enormous disappointment, not only to our live performers, but also the community throughout the valley. This is not a decision we have taken lightly."

The Storm Halloween Festival weekend was to feature a haunted maze, carnival rides, trick-or-treat trail, food, crafts, costume contests, pumpkin patch and live bands on two stages, producers said.

"Due to the pandemic and other unforeseen events, we were met with numerous challenges as well as delays across the board," the promoters said. "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment this has caused."

Another October event in Lake Elsinore —Field Of Screams: Haunted Stadium — also pulled the plug on its 2021 Halloween season. No specific reason was given, and the haunted attraction said it hopes for a 2022 return "bigger and badder ... than ever before."

The Storm festival organizers added that they are looking ahead with plans for Halloween 2022. "We trust that local businesses, partners as well as our communities will be stronger and ready to come together to create the best Halloween Festival and Marketplace the valley has ever experienced."
