Suspect In Temescal Valley Stabbing Arrested

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A man suspected in a bloody stabbing in Temescal Valley was behind bars Wednesday.

Mario Martinez, 28, of Corona was arrested by Lake Elsinore sheriff's deputies around 1:45 p.m. Tuesday on Dos Lagos Drive, according to jail records. He was booked into Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder, grand theft and vandalism charges, and is being held in lieu of a $1 million bail bond.

According to the sheriff's department, the investigation began Oct. 18 when deputies were called to the 21700 block of Temescal Canyon Road about a stabbing.

"Upon arrival, deputies located the victim profusely bleeding from numerous stab wounds to the back. The victim had been stabbed with a knife approximately three to five times after an argument with the suspect and was in need of immediate medical intervention," the sheriff's department reported.

The victim, who was not identified, was sent to a local hospital and is expected to survive, according to the department.
