In the wee hours of Saturday morning, in a chain of tweets, President Trump accused former President Obama of unlawfully wiretapping the Trump Tower to undermine the presidential election. In my lifetime I don’t recall a more serious allegation being made from a sitting President about a former President.
One would think that such a profound allegation would be presented to the American People at a special news conference called by President Trump, with U.S. Justice Department Officials and other top law enforcement officials standing behind him. Instead, Trump was all alone when he tweeted this accusation in the dead of night.
So should the American People take President Trump’s accusation seriously?

In my opinion, we need to put Trump’s tweeted accusations in context. Shortly after making the unprecedented and unsubstantiated charges against President Obama, Trump tweets about bashing Arnold Schwarzenegger in the Apprentice TV show. Trump’s succession of tweets from Obama to Schwarzenegger appear to have equal importance in Trump’s mind.
So, what do you conclude from Trump’s tweets? Is Trump a shrewd businessman that is fighting for the American People or is Trump an unscrupulous kook fighting for himself? Trump's ongoing and lifelong statements convinces me he’s the later.
