Victim ID'd In Deadly Grand Avenue Crash

LAKELAND VILLAGE, CA — Coroner's officials on Friday publicly identified a man who died in a crash in the Lakeland Village area. The man was a resident of Lake Elsinore.

Michael Edwards, 42, died at the scene of the Thursday afternoon head-on wreck on Grand Avenue, just south of Vail Street, officials said.

According to CHP Officer Mike Lassig, the crash happened as Edwards was driving in a 2009 Ford Focus southbound on Grand and "for unknown reasons drifted into the northbound traffic lanes and collided head-on" with a man in a 2003 Chevy Suburban.

The CHP Temecula Area is investigating the incident.
