Wildomar Announces Requirements To Vie For Open Council Seat

WILDOMAR, CA — The city of Wildomar officially announced it is now seeking applications to fill an open City Council seat.

Applications are now being sought to fill the vacancy created in District 5 when longtime Council Member Marsha Swanson announced on Feb. 10 that she was resigning.

According to the city, applicants must be at least 18 years old; they must reside in the city's District 5 (see a district map here); and they must be registered to vote (showing an address in District 5 at the time the application is submitted).

Applications will be reviewed by an ad-hoc subcommittee comprised of Mayor Pro Tem Joseph Morabito and Council Member Dustin Nigg. The top qualified candidates will be selected and invited to interview with the City Council at a special council meeting tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. March 16. On that date, the appointment will be voted upon by the entire City Council in open session.

Immediately following the City Council vote, the newly appointed council member will be sworn into office and will serve the remainder of Swanson's term that runs through December. The appointee can choose to run in this year's general election.

All applications are due no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, March 10.
