Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez (R-Lake Elsinore) presented a local teacher and resident with her monthly Power to the People Award last week.

Melendez presented Robert Kent, a Menifee resident and teacher at Wildomar’s Ronald Reagan Elementary School with a certificate to mark the accomplishment.
The acknowledgment comes in recognition of Kent’s achievement as recipient of the “Teachers are Heroes” award, sponsored by KATY-101.3 and Azusa Pacific University. The award highlights one teacher who has gone above and beyond and teachers are nominated by students, staff or parents. Kent’s nominating paperwork stated, “Mr. Kent is always guiding, teaching and showing students that they can do anything!” Ironically, Kent was also a teacher to the mother of the student who nominated him.
