Wildomar Wants Hotels In The City, Efforts Underway

Wildomar doesn't have any hotels, but a study is underway that may help attract interest in building some.

WILDOMAR, CA — The Wildomar City Council wants to see at least one hotel open in Wildomar, so a study is underway to help make it happen.

During the Jan. 12 Wildomar City Council meeting, council members gave their unanimous approval to sign off on an agreement to pay Manhattan Beach-based Kosmont Companies $19,000 to draft a Hotel Market and Site Analysis.

The third-party study will provide demographic and market information about Wildomar, as well as a high-level assessment of development and commercial opportunity areas in the city that prospective hoteliers require when considering where to open new sites, according to the city.

The city has never had such a report, yet the analysis has been requested by hoteliers and developers as a discussion starting point, city documents show.

The city has already identified areas that could be potential hotel sites.

"The city sees opportunity sites along Clinton Keith Road and Wildomar Trail as well-suited for hotel development, given the proximity to I-15, as well as Inland Valley Medical Center and other regional attractions," according to city documents.

Wildomar currently has no hotels.

In 2020, Kosmont was hired by the city to draft a Commercial Market Analysis. The hotel study can build upon that existing analysis, according to city documents.

"The data from this report will be an essential step to having meaningful conversations about Wildomar with targeted hoteliers and hotel developers," according to city documents.

The cost of the hotel study was approved as part of the fiscal year 2021-22 budget process.
