Wildomar Working To Fix Traffic Signal Issues Causing Delays At Intersection
Drivers may experience longer waits, even when little or no other traffic is present, the city said.
WILDOMAR, CA — The City of Wildomar is working to resolve traffic signal timing issues at the intersection of Palomar Street and Wildomar Trail after an equipment failure disrupted the system's ability to detect approaching vehicles, the city announced on Thursday.
The problem occurred after a newly installed vehicle detection system experienced an equipment failure during a recent improvement project. As a result, the traffic signal is temporarily operating on a preprogrammed timing cycle instead of adjusting to traffic as vehicles approach the intersection, according to the city.
Drivers may experience longer waits, even when little or no other traffic is present. Left-turn arrows also may activate when no vehicles are waiting to turn, the city said.

A replacement unit has been ordered with expedited shipping. In the meantime, traffic signal technicians have adjusted the timing to help reduce delays while maintaining safe traffic operations. Once the replacement equipment arrives, crews will install the unit and work to restore normal vehicle detection, according to the city.
City officials acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the delays and thanked motorists for their patience while repairs are underway.
