Starting Wednesday night at the regularly scheduled Planning Commission meeting the City of Wildomar will start its $205,000 General Plan update.
As this is will be Agenda Item 3.1 General Business of the Planning Commission public input will be limited to a 3 minute dissertation per person with no chance of any question and rebuttal with the commission, business as usual in Wildomar.
This document will set a new direction for the future of Wildomar until the next update which if history repeats itself, will happen again in 10 years.
The goal should be to engage more than just “the usual” people who attend public meetings. “In updating the General Plan, members of the community partner with experts,” says Steve Sanders, director of ILG’s Land Use and Healthy Neighborhoods programs. “Residents bring to the table their preferences, values and hopes for the community’s future quality of life. Planners and professionals bring a way of translating that into actual plans and processes.”
This is not happening in Wildomar as 2 workshops will occur during regularly scheduled Planning Commission meeting along with 2 public hearings at Planning Commission meetings and 2 at City Council meetings.
The focus of public input will be buried into a City Web-site with no chance of back and forth discussion amongst participants.
