RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA —Are you sitting on a lottery ticket worth $2.2 million? Time is running out to turn it in. The California Lottery player who purchased a multimillion dollar-winning Powerball ticket this past fall in Riverside County will be out of luck by end of the day, Monday, if the prize is not claimed, officials said.

The Powerball ticket, purchased at a Circle K in Perris on Brown Street by an unidentified person, is worth $2.2 million through midnight, according to California Lottery spokesperson Jorge De La Cruz. If left unclaimed, the money will return to the California Public School system.

"The winning ticket is from the Wednesday, October 27, 2021, Powerball draw," De La Cruz said. "Someone who purchased that ticket at a Circle K, located at 19470 Brown Street in the city of Perris, matched five of the six winning numbers that night (3-26-51-35-6), missing only the red Powerball number (17)."

Powerball winners who match five numbers have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize.

Thus far, unclaimed prizes from the California Lottery have added over $1 billion to education since it began selling tickets in 1985, according to lottery officials.

All lottery players are encouraged to double-check their Powerball tickets as soon as possible, according to De La Cruz.

"If a person believes they have the winning ticket, they’ll need to complete a California Lottery claim form," he said.

Claim forms are available on the CA Lottery website, www.calottery.com, at all nine Lottery District Offices, and at any of more than 23,000 lottery retailers located throughout the state.

Players can submit a signed claim form (along with the winning ticket) in person at any California Lottery District Office or they can choose to mail their documents to the following address: California Lottery, 730 North 10th Street Sacramento, CA 95811

The outstanding $2.2 million ticket needs to be postmarked or claimed in person by Monday April 25, 2022. If the player holding the winning ticket needs additional assistance to claim the prize, California Lottery Customer Service can be emailed at customerservice@calottery.com, or the winner can call 1- 800-Lottery between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. PDT, Monday through Friday (except on state holidays). All claim information is summarized on the California Lottery website.
