IRVINE, CA — Daisy Chain Fields Festival, a new all-women music festival taking place in the heart of Irvine, is just around the corner.
The day-long event hosted by Grammy-winning artist Olivia Rodrigo takes place Saturday, featuring acts like Stevie Nicks and Chappell Roan set to take the stage at Irvine's Great Park.
The festival will be staged across two performance areas with no overlapping sets, allowing attendees to see every act on the schedule, according to organizers.
With the festival less than a day away, here are five things you need to know about the festival.
A total of 17 artists are set to perform at the inaugural festival, including notable performances by Doechii, Bikini Kill, Mitski, The Breeders, Garbage and more.
The festival also includes appearances from special guests Stevie Nicks and Sarah Mclachlan.
While Katseye was originally set to perform alongside the all-female lineup, the Los Angeles-based girl group dropped out of the festival Friday, according to Variety.
The group posted the announcement to their social media accounts, citing member Megan Skiendiel's ankle injury as the reason for their absence.
"We're so incredible sorry to share that we are unable to perform at Daisy Chain Fields this Saturday," the message reads. "Megan sprained her ankle yesterday during tour rehearsal and after being evaluated by doctors, she has been advised to stay off it and allow it to properly heal so we can be ready for our upcoming tour."
Those planning on attending or working at the day-long festival were advised to be mindful of the heat, as weather officials predict Saturday's highs to top 93 degrees.
A festival employee told KTLA they're concerned the planned resources won't be enough for that kind of intense heat.
The employee said they raised concerns during a Zoom call with promoters this past week, questioning whether the number of water stations and medical tents would be adequate for the number of people at the sold-out event.
The festival's map shows five hydration stations, five cooling stations, two shaded areas and two medical tents on the grounds.
"Hydration is especially important for everyone's health and safety," Daisy Chain Field organizers said in a statement published by KTLA. "Refill your bottle once inside our free hydration stations throughout the park. Cool down at our cooling fans and misters; cooling buses will be available at medical tents if needed."
Organizers also said they are ready for these big heat events.
One hundred percent of Daisy Chain Fields' net proceeds will be donated to organizations supporting women's health and reproductive rights.
"Daisy Chain Fields features an all-women lineup and 100 percent of the net proceeds will go to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls," Rodrigo wrote on social media.
Additionally, reproductive-rights education and nonprofit booths will be spotted throughout the festival site.
Organizations benefitting include Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women's Law Center and Planned Parenthood.
A new take on the Taco Bell's iconic Baja Blast will be available for sample the day of the festival, KTLA reported.
Taco Bell announced a collaboration with Daisy Chain founder Olivia Rodrigo on Thursday for its new specialty drink, "You Seem Pretty Pink for a Baja Blast."
The product marks the first-ever pink twist on the chain's signature beverage.
The collaboration includes limited-edition merchandise, fan experiences, and an activation at Daisy Chain Fields Festival.
There will be a number of street and park closures in place before and throughout the duration of the festival, according to the City of Irvine.
