LAKE FOREST, CA — A 48-year-old man suspected in a fatal DUI collision in Lake Forest that killed an 83-year-old pedestrian has been arrested, authorities said Friday.
Deputies responded around 8 p.m. Thursday to the area of Portola Parkway and Market Place to reports of a collision, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
The victim was located and taken to the hospital, where he later died as a result of his injuries. His name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Sheriff's officials said the driver, identified as Sean Micheal Kookin of Lake Forest, was taken into custody following the collision on suspicion of driving under the influence. He was later booked into the Orange County Jail.
Investigators assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team were conducting the investigation.
