Get Out In Lake Forest: Halloween Festivities, Nature Hikes In OC Parks This October

There are a slew of Halloween festivities and other free educational programs put on by Orange County Parks this October.

LAKE FOREST, CA —Now that September has passed, it's time to get spooky with OC Parks.

OC Parks announced a whole slew of scheduled events for the month of October designed to get Orange County residents out and engaged with all of the natural beauty the county's parks, beaches and trails have to offer.

Here's a rundown on the schedule of OC Parks events for October near Lake Forest:

"Program is for ages 3 to 4 only. Class includes hands-on learning, fun crafts and meeting zoo creatures up close! Cost is $5 per child (one parent included) and parking is $3 per vehicle. Parents must accompany the child for the entire program. Phone registration is required.

"OC Parks' annual Fall-O-Ween returns to Heritage Hill Historical Park this fall! Tour the decorated historical grounds and take photos at a variety of Halloween and fall-themed photo opportunities during special park hours. Light refreshments will be available for purchase. Try to find your way through the straw maze and complete a scavenger hunt for ghoulish goodies at this family-friendly event. Costumes are encouraged and pets are welcome on leashes no longer than 6 feet. The event and parking are free.

"Located within OC Parks' Irvine Ranch Open Space, Red Rock Wilderness features more than 8 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding along with a scenic overlook that offers 360-degree views of the nearby iconic red rocks, Black Star Canyon Wilderness, Irvine Lake, Santiago Canyon and beyond. 3 miles of multi-use trails within Loma Ridge Nature Preserve, part of OC Parks' Irvine Ranch Open Space, will also be accessible for hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. Advance registration required.
