2 Arrested During DUI Checkpoint In La Mesa
The La Mesa Police Department will also have additional officers on patrol through Labor Day on Monday.

LA MESA, CA — Two drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the the influence of alcohol or drugs during a DUI checkpoint last weekend in La Mesa, authorities announced Thursday.
The checkpoint was held from 7 p.m. Saturday until 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 4900 block of Spring Street, according to the La Mesa Police Department. During the checkpoint, police contacted 752 vehicles, arrested two drivers, and evaluated nine drivers for impairment in secondary screening.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes, according to the department. Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The department will also have additional officers on patrol through Labor Day on Monday. Officers will be on the lookout for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The additional efforts to prevent impaired driving are part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" national enforcement campaign, according to the department.
