2 Injured In La Mesa Crash

A collision between a motorcycle and a car left two men injured, one seriously, authorities said.

LA MESA, CA – A collision between a motorcycle and a car at an East County intersection left two men injured Tuesday, one seriously, authorities reported.

The crash occurred about 10:30 a.m., when the 34-year-old driver of a 2014 Hyundai made a left turn directly in the path of an oncoming 2016 Harley- Davidson in the 7700 block of University Avenue in La Mesa, according to police.

The resulting impact hurled the 54-year-old motorcyclist across the roadway and caused the car to overturn onto its roof, Lt. Brian Stoney said.

Medics took the rider and the motorist to a hospital for treatment of serious and minor injuries, respectively.

The accident left traffic lanes closed in the area into the late afternoon, the lieutenant said.
