3 Students Recognized Through Ambassador Scholarship Program
The winners, two from Helix Charter High School and one from Serra High School, received scholarships from the SDCCU and BBB partnership.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Three college-bound students from San Diego County recently were awarded scholarships as part of the Ambassador Scholarship Program, a partnership between San Diego County Credit Union and the Better Business Bureau serving Pacific Southwest.
Sundus Hersi, of Helix Charter High School in La Mesa, took first place and received a $2,500 scholarship. Second place and a $1,500 scholarship went to Kevin Do, a student from Serra High School in San Diego. And the third place recipient was Helix Charter student Zubeyda Farah, who received $1,000.
The Ambassador Scholarship Program is aimed at students heading off to college as entry-level consumers through peer-to-peer presentations providing them with resources and tools for navigating credit and budgeting, online safety, rentals and housing, student loans, scholarships and employment scams.

Students seeking the scholarships received training then delivered presentations to their peers, according to organizers. In total, 101 presentations were delivered at 44 different high schools, reaching 21,746 students across San Diego, Orange and Imperial counties.
“Learning the basics on how to manage your money early on, at a young age, is vital to future financial success.” said Teresa Campbell, SDCCU president and CEO.

The winning students, Sundus, Kevin and Zubeyda were honored at a Jan. 15 reception held at iHeartRadio. In addition to their scholarships, the three received certificates recognizing their contribution towards ethics and smart consumerism as official BBB Ambassadors.
