4 Residents Escape House Fire In La Mesa
Three adults and a child escaped a house fire that sparked on the second floor of a multifamily home.
LA MESA, CA — Three adults and a child escaped a house fire early Tuesday, the Heartland Fire Department said.
The fire began just after 2 a.m. Tuesday in the 8700 block of Mellmanor Drive, said Officer Andy McKellar of the HFD.
The fire was on the second floor of a multifamily home and residents escaped safely with no injuries, the officer said.

The fire was extinguished by 4 a.m.
Fifteen fire units were on the scene, including crews from San Miguel, San Diego and officers from the La Mesa Police Department.

The American Red Cross was helping the four residents who were displaced find shelter.
Heartland Fire officials were investigating the cause of the fire.
