All-Star Week: MLB, Padres Team Up to Renovate Brady Family Teen Center in La Mesa

The renovation is among several All-Star Legacy improvement projects.

La Mesa, CA — Major League Baseball and the San Diego Padres launched their full slate of All-Star Week community activities Thursday with the dedication of renovations to the Brady Family Teen Center of the Boys & Girls Clubs of East County.

Renovations to the La Mesa facility include lighting, upgraded furniture, updated windows, kitchen renovations and upgrades to the technology center.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of East County operate in the communities of El Cajon, Lakeside, La Mesa and Santee. The clubs provide children with age-appropriate activities, trained professional staff, state of the art computer labs; cool, clean, well maintained buildings and a safe, healthy atmosphere to learn and grow.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of East County have three full service clubhouses with gymnasiums for children ages 5-10 and two Teen Centers in La Mesa and El Cajon for teens ages 11-18.

MLB and the Padres have donated approximately $5 million through MLB Charities and the Padres Foundation, a fund of the San Diego Foundation, toward several All-Star Legacy improvement projects and in support of national charitable initiatives.

A portion of the funds will be raised from Gatorade All-Star Workout Day on Monday. Since 1997, MLB has donated more than $75 million in All-Star charitable contributions.
