LA MESA-MOUNT HELIX, CA — Residents in La Mesa and Mount Helix should prepare for temporary changes to government services Wednesday, Nov. 11, as San Diego County observes Veterans Day.
County government offices, family resource centers, county-operated libraries, public health centers and animal shelters will close for the federal holiday, according to the county.
The closures will affect residents who rely on county services for public health appointments, assistance programs and other government business.

County parks and campgrounds will remain open during regular operating hours, although some recreation and community center offices will be closed.
Law enforcement, emergency animal control response and other essential county services will continue operating throughout Veterans Day.
Normal county government operations are scheduled to resume Thursday, Nov. 12.
Veterans Day is observed annually Nov. 11 to honor the service of U.S. military veterans.

Residents should check separately with the city of La Mesa for the holiday schedules of city-operated facilities and services.
