Annual Helix Highlander Band Rehearse-A-Thon Seeks Sponsors

On Saturday, September 13, 2014 the students and staff of the Helix Highlander Band and Color Guard have committed to a 12 -hour practice challenge for our annual Rehearse-A-Thon. We have taken this pledge to raise money for our program while perfecting our competitive show.

While in the Highlander Band, students have the opportunity to perform and compete with other ensembles throughout Southern California and the United States in the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association, American Drumline Association, and Winter Guard International.

Last year our Highlander Marching Band earned 6th place at the SCSBOA Championships, our Winter Guard placed 4th at State Championships, and our Drumline won the ADLA Open Division State Championship for the third year in a row!

In order for our students to participate and perform at the highest level possible, each student has committed to raise $700 for the competitive season.

The money raised helps pay for instruction, coaching, transportation, uniforms, equipment/repairs, and circuit fees. Please keep in mind that the vast majority of the funds we need to support our program come not from our school or our district, but from donations we receive from our families, friends, and community.

The goal of each student is find 14 people to sponsor them at $50 for the day. That’s only $4.17 per hour.
