Area Little League All-Stars Looking to Advance

It will be a battle of unbeatens when the 11- and 12-year-old All-Star teams from La Mesa National and Lake Murray meet in the District 33 double elimination tournament Thursday evening at 6:30 at the Murphy Canyon field. This is the Little League division that ultimately crowns a champion in Williamsport, PA.

La Mesa National has whipped Tierrasanta 14-0 and San Carlos 15-3, while Lake Murray edged Rolando 4-3, beat Mid City 9-1 and stopped Serra Mesa 12-2.

Also in District 33, the Lake Murray 9- and 10-year-olds are unbeaten with wins over Allied Gardens, Murphy Canyon and La Mesa National, and will take on Mission Trails at 5:30 Thursday in Allied Gardens. In the 10-11 tournament, La Mesa National (with one loss) hosts San Carlos at 5:30 Thursday.

The Fletcher Hills Little League saw its 9- and 10-year-old All-Stars reach the District 41 double-elimination tourney, and the team earned a 3-2 win over West Hills in Wednesday's opener and will host Lakeside National at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
