Ballplayers in Training Score Points for Cuteness as T-Ball Brings Parents on Field

Mets and Padres hit the ball and have fun running bases in La Mesa National Little League.

T-Ball players for the Mets and Padres as young as 5 squared off Tuesday afternoon on Meeker Field at Lemon Avenue Elementary School—as part of La Mesa National Little League.  Despite the distractions of the dirt, the nearby playground and much-anticipated postgame snacks, some baseball was played.  Coaches and parents helped kids with the basics, such as where to stand, how to hold the bat and the tactics of a leadoff.  One girl played on each team, which were coached by Dale Lindsey and William Temple—and many parents on the field.
