Helix Highlander Band Takes First Place
Helix Highlander Band Wins First Place in the 4A Division at the Mt. Carmel Tournament of Bands
Congratulations to the The Helix Highlander Band for their first place 4A division win at the Mt. Carmel Tournament of Bands on October 27th. After months of hard work, and countless hours of practice both on and off the field, our students performed their Field Show, “Music from Carmen,” beautifully. The Band is judged on music, marching and the general effect of the show. The level of dedication and determination our students demonstrate never ceases to amaze.
The field show wouldn't be the same without our Helix Highlander Color Guard. Their movements and costumes lend much to the overall visual interpretation of the music. Our Color Guard took third place for auxiliary in the Field Show.
Also, the Highlander Band’s competitive parade block took third place in their division performing John Philip Sousa’s “Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.” It is a wonderful sight to see our Color Guard, Bagpipe and Marching Bands heading down the parade route in unison.
If you would like to see our students’ next performance of “Music from Carmen,” please join us at Friday night’s Helix Football game against Steele Canyon during half-time. You may also see us at our final San Diego area competition this Saturday at Mira Mesa High School’s 20th Annual Band Review & Field Tournament. You won’t be disappointed.
