La Mesa National Little League teams reached mid-season milestones during a busy week of games.
La Mesa National Little League, teams, ranging from T-Ball to Majors passed their mid-season milestones during a busy week of games filled with fun and skill.
The league has a total of seventeen teams with players age four to twelve. In addition to play within the league, majors and minors teams play against other local leagues such as Mission Trails, Cajon de Oro, and Rancho San Diego.
In addition, the Majors Astros recently took 3rd place in the Clay Berry Invitational Tournament, held in San Bernadino.

La Mesa National’s home fields are at Kuhlken, below the La Mesa Community Center, and Lemon Avenue. A lucky few of the away games are being played at Mt. Helix’s own “Field of Dreams”, Mosher Field.
Competition is fierce as the Majors, Minors, and CAPS (Coach Assist Pitch) teams prepare for the league TOC (Tournament of Champions) held in late May. Amazingly enough, the T-Ball teams are in a six way tie.

League President Kevin Hovey noted that Little League is as much about building good citizens and sportsmanship as it is about increasing skills. During a recent minors game, that sportsmanship was on display when several players were hit by pitches, and handshakes rather than hostility followed.
