Two East County realtors honored for community service by Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors
East County realtors honored for community service.
Two East County real estate professionals were recently honored by the Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors (PSAR) with 2012 Community Service awards.
Spring Valley resident Terri Davids, a realtor with Century 21 Award’s El Cajon office, was recognized for her support of Paws for Purple Hearts, a non-profit that helps returning combat veterans with psychological scars, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

Paws for Purple Hearts is a program built upon the trusted and time-honored tradition of veterans helping veterans because it provides therapeutic intervention for both veterans and active-duty military personnel, according to Davids, who hosted a fundraising luncheon attended by other realtors.

Davids said the program engages returning veterans who train specially-bred Golden and Labrador Retriever puppies over 18-to-24 months. Once training is complete, the service dogs are then given to other physically-disabled military veterans who have sustained mobility-limiting injuries.
Davids has worked in real estate in the East County since 2001, all with Century 21 Award.
In addition, Lakeside resident Darel Handley, with Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty’s office in La Mesa, was recognized for his ongoing efforts in support of several charities, including Habitat for Humanity, USO, Wounded Warriors and El Cajon Rotary.
After a 30-year career in the U.S. Navy in 2002, Handley started selling real estate in 2003. He also oversees agent training at Sotheby’s 11 offices in San Diego County.
The Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors (PSAR), founded in 1928, offers educational training, advocacy and other services and resources to its realtor members. In 2012, PSAR became a 1,900-member realtors association following a merger of the El Cajon-based, 800-member East San Diego County Association of Realtors, and the Chula Vista-based, 1,100-member Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors.
