Detectives Seek To Identify Man Who Tried To Get Girl Into Car
A man tried to get a 13-year-old girl to get into his car as she was walking to school in Spring Valley.

SPRING VALLEY, CA — Authorities reached out to the public Wednesday for help in identifying the man who tried to get a 13-year-old girl to get into his car as she was walking to school in Spring Valley.
The teen told investigators the stranger, who appeared to be in his late 20s or early 30s, pulled up alongside her in a black late-model Toyota Prius in the 9600 block of Campo Road and asked her if she needed a ride shortly before 9 a.m. Feb. 28, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
When she declined, the man demanded the girl get into his vehicle, officials said. She than ran to her school, Spring Valley Academy, and told staffers there what had happened.

The teenager described the driver as a white man with curly red hair and crooked teeth. At the time of the possible attempted abduction, he was wearing reading glasses and was cleanshaven, authorities said.
The girl told detectives the license plate on the man's car bore the numbers 1 and 7 and the letter B.
