Driver Leads CHP On Chase From SR-94 Near La Mesa to Border

BREAKING: The pursuit started near Massachusetts Avenue.

LA MESA, CA — A speeding driver led California Highway Patrol officers on a chase early Wednesday along several freeways between the La Mesa-Lemon Grove city line and the U.S.-Mexico border.

Officers attempted to pull over a black Jeep Cherokee for speeding on westbound state Route 94 approaching Massachusetts Avenue shortly before 2 a.m., but the driver did not stop, according to the CHP.

The Jeep headed west on state Route 94, then south on Interstate 15. It then transitioned onto southbound Interstate 5 and traveled through San Diego, National City and Chula Vista as it continued toward the international boundary, according to the CHP.
