DUI Checkpoint Planned In East County
The checkpoint is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Friday and end at 3 a.m. Saturday in Lemon Grove, officials said.

LEMON GROVE, CA – With a recent spike in hit-and-run crashes and other traffic collisions in the community, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department is conducting a DUI and driver's license checkpoint Friday night in Lemon Grove.
The checkpoint is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Friday and end at 3 a.m. Saturday, sheriff's Sgt. Jorge Dueño said.
"Based on training and experience, it is believed that the high number of DUI traffic collisions and hit-and-run collisions might be related to driving impaired and/or driving without a license," Dueño said.

About 15 deputies and other sheriff's employees from the Lemon Grove Substation will conduct the checkpoint near the 8000 block of Broadway, Dueño said.
During the Friday night checkpoint, officers will be on the lookout for drivers with signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment, Dueño said. Deputies will also check for valid licensing.
