DUI Checkpoint Scheduled This Weekend In La Mesa
The La Mesa Police Department will also have additional officers on patrol through Labor Day on Sept. 4.

LA MESA, CA — Police will conduct a DUI checkpoint this weekend in La Mesa.
The checkpoint is scheduled from 8 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday at an undisclosed location within the city, according to the La Mesa Police Department.
"The community's well-being is our top priority, so we're asking that if you know you'll be out drinking to have a game plan for how to get home safely," La Mesa Police Chief Ray Sweeney said in a statement. "There is never a good excuse for driving after drinking or using drugs that impair."

The department will also have additional officers on patrol through Labor Day on Sept. 4. Officers will be looking for drivers suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The additional efforts to prevent impaired driving are part of the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" national enforcement campaign, according to the department.
